Donor Hero: Jereme Doust
On the 22nd June, 1992 Jereme Andrew Doust fell asleep at the age of 6. Exactly one month prior to his 7th birthday. Jereme was the eldest brother of 3 siblings, Samantha 5, Alicia 3 and Joshua 18 months and dearly loved and missed by all. Jereme was a gentle soul with boundless energy for life. He had a passion for dinosaurs and The Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Jereme gave the gift of life to 5 recipients. A 4 year old boy received Jereme's liver and his mother sent us a beautiful letter which we have cherished. The two kidney recipients were: A young mum of 4 young children herself, who sadly passed away shortly after the transplant. A young man, we believe at the time was in his 20's lived several years after. Later in 1992 or early in the following year 2 young babies/ toddlers received Jereme's precious heart valves. There has not been a day gone by, after all of these years that we don't reflect and think of Jereme along with his recipients and their families. Our family and our extended family and friends celebrate each year by sharing pizza. This quirky little celebration of Jereme's life started due to the fact that Jereme's much loved Ninja turtles loved pizza...so I share with you all the challenge of sharing pizza in memory of Jereme every 22nd June. Donation to our family was a light among the darkest day of our lives. From mum Trish Doust
